Fiber Feeds

A fiber feed allows a guest in our studios to interact live with a host at a distant location. Whether with one, two or three cameras, our technology infrastructure allows an extremely quick set-up time, generally less than 10 minutes. In addition, we offer a variety of scenic elements to make your broadcast unique, as multiple Boston skyline backgrounds clearly demonstrate.

Our primary control room features a fully component signal path, making live on-air shots smooth and realistic. This room also provides high-quality Chromakey solutions with ease.

PixMix prides itself with its growing list of national clients. Among these are national broadcasters like CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, G-4 Tech TV, Bloomberg Television News, The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer and The Charlie Rose Show. Our international clients include the BBC, CBC, EBU and Middle-East networks Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya.

We offer a sliding scale for fiber feeds with low rates for feeds occurring during weekdays between 8AM to 6PM. Please call for specific information on rates.

Webcasts

Financial guru Suze Orman conducts a personal financial webcast for the Manulife Financial Company, Toronto, Canada.

Webcasting, similar to fiber feeds, often utilizes a single camera. We work with the nation's leading service providers to enable high quality live-streamed web events.

PixMix took webcasting into consideration when redesigning our studios and control rooms. Both control rooms offer multiple phone lines and a shared T-1 data line to accommodate the needs of a webcast. The webcast team works in the auxiliary control room handling data coordination and live email questions, while our video team works in the primary control room ensuring the highest possible quality of audio and video organization. We then transmit the program to a service bureau for live and archived distribution.

Satellite Media Tours

Satellite Media Tours are a variation of fiber feeds. SMT's are of a longer duration, generally lasting from one to two hours or more in length. These tours can range from a single guest and a single camera up to three (or more) guests and three studio cameras.

One critical element of a successful Satellite Media Tour is the coordination of the incoming IFB and PL audio sources. PixMix can supply our Studio A control room with additional telephone hybrids and phone lines, making "hop scotching" of the audio a seamless affair. For SMT's of a more modest nature that do not require multiple hybrids and phone lines, our Studio B and control room offer a lower cost alternative. This is because our dedicated single camera fiber room is permanently set and lit and requires fewer operating personnel.
